Teaching

I teach across applied economics, quantitative methods, and data analysis at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. My approach emphasises real-world application — I want students to leave not just understanding economic theory but knowing how to use it, how to work with data, and how to think critically about evidence and its limitations.

Much of my teaching is built around quantitative literacy. Whether introducing statistics to undergraduates for the first time or teaching advanced survey methodology and R at Masters level, I try to build both technical confidence and the judgement to know when and how to apply different methods. Students who understand the mechanics of a technique are far better placed to interpret, question, and communicate findings — which matters as much in policy and business contexts as in academic research.
